I met Derek because his fiance and he hired me as their wedding videographer and photographer for next June. I offered to do headshots for him for free as a thank you, and so we had a good time in Washington Square talking and catching up on things. Derek is a good actor, trying like the rest of us to work his way up, and these headshots are just another step towards the top!

Washington Square Park, Manhattan - Headshots of Maurice

A few days ago, I met up with Maurice Baskin, again in Washington Square Park to take some headshots. He was looking for some good smiling pics to replace his older headshots, so we spent an hour or so shooting some great pictures. He has a great natural smile, so it's very easy to work with him. He actually had auditioned with me to play the Tyrone character in Mozart of Rap! Let me know what you think of his pics!

Maurice Baskin, 25, was born and raised in Brooklyn New York and is an actor and songwriter. He has been singing since he can remember, and during his formal training years as a vocalist he picked up the art of songwriting and happens to be pretty good at it. He started acting in small commercials as a child; and then went on to a Performing arts High school where he was exposed to many different types of creative expression. As he graduated and went off to college, he started taking private voice lessons, as well as some scene study work. He than began student projects such as silent black and white films and even student commercials. After that he started doing extra work on indie projects where he gained experience behind the scenes. He truly enjoys his experiences in the entertainment field and has so much more to offer the industry. Maurice is currently working on an Indie R&B artist debut project, and is also auditioning everyday looking for that next big role. He plans to move to Calinfornia in 2011.

I had a great time meeting again with my friend Susie Duecker, who starred in Ben's music video Lullaby. She modeled for me and we took a bunch of awesome pictures and had a fun time. She is going to be moving to California soon, but hopefully we will still stay in touch.

Today I went into Washington Square park and did headshots for Lidia. Lidia hasn't acted in a few years but is now starting to get back into it and needed some updated headshots. Washington Square Park, Manhattan - Headshots of Rae

About a month ago, I was in Washington Square Park taking photos for one of my professors, Rae Wright. She has been helping me out on the film Mozart of Rap, and I figured it would be fun for both of us to do a headshot session. Normally she has to pay a lot for headshots, but I did it for her for free. She told me she was going for a certain type of look, the "white trailer trash mom look." Ms. Wright is a NYFA Fellow; a two-time MacDowell Fellow; a recipient of a Teaching Fellowship in the 2010 Fulbright Senior Specialist Category; received an OBIE for Sustained Excellence in the Theatre for her work with The NY Street Theatre Caravan, Marketa Kimbrell, Director; shares a Jane Chambers Award with Deb Margolin for their two-character work “The Breaks”; is featured in Madeline Olnek’s award-winning short shown at Sundance in 2009 “Countertransference”; appears in “Joe’s Apartment”, plays Steve Buscemi’s love interest in “Borders”; and is featured in last year’s fun mock-doc; “Rising Up: The Story of the Zombie Rights Movement in America".

About a week ago, I shot headshots for Kaitlyn, a great actress and someone who should be a model because she has the look. She is in musical theatre and is friends with Shannon, hence how she found out about me. We took a bunch of shots in an hour and she found so many that she liked that I couldn't edit all of them for her. But she was able to narrow it down to five and then I got them to her the next day.

Crown Heights - Woody Fenelon Headshots

I went into Brooklyn to take headshots for Woody a fourth time, and we also shot some footage of him refereeing a high school football game. But this post is just about the headshot session. Literally, we only shot for about twenty minutes and then I had to go because we cut the timing so close. But we did get a number of good shots out of the twenty minute long session.

Washington Square Park, Manhattan - Headshots of Lauren

Just this past weekend, I again went into Washington Square Park to take headshots, this time of Lauren. Lauren knows my friend Shannon Collins (you can see her headshots if you scroll farther down the blog), and that is how she found out about me. She was very happy with the pictures I took for her and is going to be using them for her new projects she is working on in Musical Theater.

A couple of weeks ago, I met up with Jeffrey DiLucca, who is a great film music composer. He needed some headshots, and since he is working on music for my film, we decided it would be a good trade, headshots for a song. We went out and took a bunch, and out of them all, there were a few that really stood out. Let me know what you think!

City Headshots

Jeffrey DiLucca is an accomplished composer and singer who has composed music for the concert stage, radio, and independent films. In 2008 DiLucca was invited by conductor and composer, Dinu Ghezzo, to conduct the Constanza Symphony Orchestra in the world premier of his work The Arrirang Variations based on the popular Korean folk melody in Constanza, Romania. His musical profile of Dr. Laurie Evens was written in images and bumpers for Sirius Satellite Radio’s station Dr. Radio. Jeffery also enjoys contributing to the literature of Jewish liturgical music, with which he strongly and personally connects. His Hashkiveinu, for tenor and piano trio, will be released with Transcontinental Publications.

Jeffrey’s performance experience as choral singer has been with the world renowned Westminster Symphonic Choir under the direction of Joseph Flummerfelt. DiLucca has toured nationally with Andrea, Denyce Graves, and the Royal Philharmonic of London and has sung choral masterworks such as Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and Brahms Requiem with the New York Philharmonic and Dresden Philharmonic, respectively.

DiLucca is also a published entertainment journalist, writing regularly for Film Score Monthly and SonicScoop.com covering the latest events in the feature film industry as well as the New York City music scene. Jeffrey has interviewed such successful composers as Mychael Danna, Ira Newborn, and Mark Snow as well as acclaimed film director, Mira Nair.

Jeffrey DiLucca holds a Masters of Music in Composition with a focus in Scoring for Film and Multimedia from New York University’s Steinhardt School of Education and Culture as well as a Bachelors of Music in Composition and Voice from Westminster Choir College of Rider University.

Again in Washington square, I shot some headshots of a good friend of mine, Collin Bell. It was a fun time and we caught up on things, since I haven't seen him much in the past two years. I really enjoyed taking pictures of him because he is easy to make laugh, something very important to get good headshots. Check out the pictures and let me know what you think!

Collin Bell is an acting student with NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. Appearing most recently in The Wake of Jamey Foster by Beth Henley, other notable appearances include The Winter's Tale, Metamorphoses, Footloose!, Songs for a New World, David and Lisa, as well as the world premier of Joel Fullerton's Coffee-Flavored Coffee. He was born in Coronado, California, and before enrolling at Tisch attended the Coronado School of the Arts, a regionally renowned performing arts high school. Collin hopes to continue developing his theatrical career as well as move into film and television work.

Washington Square Park, Manhattan - Headshots of Emebeit

Emebeit originally auditioned for the role of Donna in my film, Mozart of Rap, but we met up again to do some headshots last week! It was a great day because since the sun was out, we had a ton of options for locations and great ways to use the light for beautiful pictures.

Emebeit Beyene is from Philadelphia and is currently residing in New York City. She is a 2010 graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts where she studied at Stonestreet Studios and at the Experimental Theater Wing. During her time at ETW, she was seen in the mainstage production of Oliver! She also created a short one-woman piece, inspired by her experiences traveling, addressing her identity as an Ethiopian-American. She believes that traveling and gaining new perspectives is a key to becoming a better artist and person. She recently wrapped shooting the short film "Their Eyes Were Watching Gummy Bears", which is her first professional film right out of college, and is currently shooting a webseries developed by herself and fellow Tisch colleagues. Emebeit has worked with mentor Kamilah Forbes as assistant stage manager for Hip Hop Theater Festival's production of Ben Snyder's Rock, Paper, Scissors. She starred in the short film Saturday Morning Blues which was recently featured in the Urbanworld Film Festival and the Slam Dance Festival.

Washington Square Park, Manhattan - Headshots of Aamira

I met up with Aamira a few days ago and we had a great time doing headshots! I got caught up on all the various things she is doing in her life, and it was good to talk to her after such a long time. We have worked on a few projects together, but it was cool to just hang out with her while not yelling orders at a big crew haha.

Aamira Welthy has starred in various productions such as Steel Magnolias, The Diary of Anne Frank, and This is Our Youth. She has been featured in several national commercials for Coca Cola, Verizon Fios, FUSE and most recently an MSNBC promo directed by Spike Lee. Earlier this year, Aamira appeared as the title character in Deviant Children Productions’ Little Red Riding Hood, which premiered at the Tribeca Three Short Film Festival. Some recent theater credits include, a starring role in The Purple Lady Lives in My Head, which premiered at the Midtown Short Play Festival and Magdalena’s Crossing, which opened to critical acclaim at the Midtown International Theater Festival. Stephanie Nieman is a recent graduate of Stephens College with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre. She recently appeared in ‘Bedroom Farce’ with the Hampton Theatre Company. Stephanie was in an Off Off Broadway production of ‘Sex, Relationships, and Sometimes... Love.’ She also was an intern at the Women's Project Theatre working in marketing and PR. Stephanie spent last summer at the Okoboji Summer Theatre where she helped build and perform 9 shows in 10 weeks.
