Don't try something you haven't done before. Once, an actor decided the morning of the headshot session to try a leave in conditioner for the first time. It didn't end well, with her worrying the whole time because her hair wound up looking slightly greasy in the pictures because of it. This was an unfortunate situation, but something that you do have to look out for sometimes.
Many actors try to overdo it before their session and it doesn't turn out well because they are either worried the whole time about something that they did and their worriedness shows in their pictures, or they actually DID do something to themselves that they shouldn't have and you notice it later in the images.
Don't try new things! Stick to what you are familiar with, because remember: you have spent your whole life doing what you do to make yourself look good. Many years of perfecting your look has to be better than trying a new random thing with no experimentation the day of the shoot, right? And if you really do want to try something new, hire a professional to do it.

Crown Heights - Woody Fenelon Sean John Slideshow
About a month and a half ago, I went to Brooklyn again to do more work with my good friend Woody. We got some awesome pictures of him modeling Sean John clothing, and we cut a slideshow together for it. Let us know what you think!
Widmark Fenelon a.k.a. Woody was born January 26, 1977 in Brooklyn, New York City in Kings county hospital to Ann-Marie Fenelon and Joseph Fenelon. He was born with a determination to win. Since a child, Woody has always been a leader. He remembers vividly as a child where leadership was called for and he willingly jumped to the occasion. He recalls entreating a new school and automatically befriending both the popular and the unpopular crowd in the school within a week. He recalls being a people person and crossing social lines in order to spread his positivity and love of others to all. A born leader, a people person and a stand up guy, Woody stands at 5’8, 230 pounds and was born and raised in Crown Heights which is in Brooklyn New York.
Woody grew up in Ebbets field, Field Bridge Assoc. and attended Five Block Day care Center on Carroll Street in his early years. He was then sent to Haiti from the ages of 6 thru 8 to a Boarding school in Port au Prince, Bois Verna. While living there, Woody attended both Augolo and St-Jean L'Evangelist Elementary School. While experiencing this move, Woody experienced culture shock for the first time and was now faced with an obstacle, which was new to him. He decided to triumphantly become a leader and become a master of his destiny. He quickly became familiar with both his surroundings and newfound culture. In Haiti, Woody was well taught and his mannerisms were enhanced, as he became a young civilized, respectable man.
He also became popular once he fell in love with both Soccer and Basketball. He was so good at Soccer; he played in the intramurals during his brief stay. He left Haiti for Christmas vacation and since school was closed for a month, both Woody and his brother came back to America to visit. They ended up staying in Brooklyn and not returning to Haiti because of the coup which took place at the fall of Jean Claude Duvalier Jr. commonly known as “Baby Doc”.
Woody & his brother Joseph then enrolled in P.S. 189 Bilingual Center in Brownsville, Brooklyn NY where their sister Gina graduated. Because of their time spent in Haiti, French became their primary language creating a dilemma where English could be neither written nor read.
Due to his born determination, Woody was able to overcome this obstacle and become top of his class in all subjects. Reading & writing in English became second nature. At 189, he learned what true friendship meant and from there he grew into a young man, disciplined and well mannered. Woody was always dedicated to sports. He also played baseball for St. Francis Little League Team. A lot of his discipline, Teamwork and dedication came from what he learned from playing with the Brooklyn Sky Hawks, a local football team. This triumph became his premise for his determination to always do it and do it big, hence his brand “WOODY DOES IT!” He always knew he could and because of that, he knows he can regardless of the obstacle.
Graduating to High school was an easy transition for Woody. Following in his eldest brother Joseph’s footsteps, he was easily accepted into the fold. Woody played for Sheepshead Bay High school in Brooklyn NY on their football team as a Defensive Back and a running back. Again, he was popular among his peers and enjoyed helping others and being helpful through his travels. He has always had that star quality and was charismatic in nature, a natural entertainer. He was always the David triumphing over Goliath in many situations where all odds were against him. Regardless to who thought he couldn’t, Woody always did what ever he put his mind too and proved them wrong. When he wanted to be successful, he was, because he wanted to be.
After high school, Woody enrolled in LaGuardia Community College located in Queens New York. Always wanting to challenge himself and explore new worlds, Woody majored in Mortuary Science & minored in Early Childhood Education. While in college, Woody fathered his 1st child. Understanding what it took to provide for his family he again challenged his self and became a party promoter in NYC (Ramsey Racing). Being a very sociable person, spontaneous and adventurous in nature, he excelled in this field very quickly. Woody is a quick learner, so he made his business to learn all he could about this field. He then moved to Florida and started a company with a childhood friend named “Varsity Entertainment”, a party promoting company.
Still feeling the motivation for a challenge and a new adventure in life, Woody decided to join the Merchant Marines. This was a good move for him because he always loved to travel. He always had a strong love for the youth as well. Through out all his adventures, he always wanted to be a positive role model for the youth in some form. His love for children has extended itself so much so, that he was anointed Godfather of eight different children. This wasn’t enough for Woody though, he decided to father his second child.
Upon returning from the Merchant Marines, Woody came back to Brooklyn and volunteered with the Brooklyn Chiefs Little League Football team. This was a beautiful merge between two of his loves, children and sports. Woody also became an Administrative Assistant with the Board of education where he also coached the boy’s varsity baseball team and the Team manger to boys Varsity basketball team. On the weekends Woody found himself working as a referee for the PSAL FOA Football Officials Association NY State Chapter (H.S. Football).
Still wanting to challenge himself and touch the hearts of people, Woody wanted to find a new forum to do so. During the summer of 2009, he decided to go to an acting call. Due to his charismatic energy and wit, Woody was able to land his first principle role in the Windows 7 Commercial “Parental Control” and a second principal role in Windows 7 My Idea Callabo commercial. Not wanting to wait on Hollywood and naturally being an innovative leader, Woody decided to create his own commercial “Woody Does It” which displays his love for Nike, kids and sports while working on other projects. He also appeared in the Cassidy Video “Face to Face” and is currently working on a few up and coming projects.
Woody wants to become a household brand. He wants to be an example to the youth and show that regardless of ones circumstance; they can live their dream out if they put their minds to it. Hard work never goes unnoticed and it pays off. Woody plans to overcome another obstacle that life presents with ease as he has always done and will continue to do. He is a humble actor; always willing to learn. He loves what he does and likes to have fun with it simultaneously putting his heart into all his work. In his book, there is no “I” in team and he is always ready to be a team player.

Midtown, Manhattan - Sheraton Hotel - Zhejiang-USA SME Week Conference
I was hired about two weeks ago to shoot photos and video for the Zhejiang-USA SME Week opening conference, attended by government officials from both the US and China. Here are some photos, and I will be posting up a short video soon as well. Let me know what you think! It was pretty intense, let me tell you. I was holding the video camera at the same time as shooting most of these pictures!

How to Come Up with a Story

Sometimes I try to come up with interesting stories and just can't seem to figure out what to write about. Well fortunately I came up with some questions for myself with all different tricks to help come up with a story idea. I hope they can help you too.
1. Look around you right now and spot an object in the room that interests you. Is there something special about this object that could make it worth fighting for, or even dying for? Is there an object you can make up in your head that is?
2. If you couldn't think of any objects think of a person. Is there someone you know that could be thrust into a situation that is the exact polar opposite of who they are and what they stand for? What would they do? Remember, the more intense the conflict, the better the story (as long as you can resolve the conflict).
3. If you can't think of a person for step 2, what about if something happened to you today? Even if it was the most boring thing. Did you get pulled over by a cop? Did someone yell at you? Did your teacher take away your cell phone? All o these little occurrences can be magnified. Give the person who did something to you an ulterior motive. Maybe the cop had a run in with your parent and wants to get back at your family, or he's actually a crazy person pretending to be a cop. Maybe the person who yelled at you thought you were someone else who they hate, and now they are going to come after you. Maybe the teacher is a creeper and likes you, and just wants you to have to see him or her after school... Now take the YOU and change it to a character who has quirks and let those traits come out and throw the story in a new direction.

The Plaza Hotel - Children's Cancer and Blood Foundation Annual Gala
